If you have children in your class who have special needs or are bilingual, be sure to offer alphabet materials in Braille and Spanish. You may wish to have learning centers up and running at all times so that when students are done with their work, they can spend time in a center.

Here are some ideas and tips for setup: Have students' main tables or desks double as centers by giving them colors or numbers. If you would like some additional assistance in planning your classroom space or setting up your preschool learning centers, we've included a list of resources you may find helpful: Additional Resources. If we do see a child staying away from certain centers, we might encourage him to come try something else. We put great thought into how we set up each center, especially at the beginning of the year when we are still learning what our preschoolers are interested in.

These include: Decide how many centers to create. Anticipate which centers will need more space for materials. Decide how long center time will be and how many weeks the center will be open. Give each sudent a centers passport. Happy teaching!
